How to set up a checkout form for DRB or Sonnys gift cards
Create items in your Point of Sale
- First, work with your POS to create the Gift Card items you would like to sell.
- DRB: Specify if you would like to sell digital or physical gift cards. These items must be in the 1000-1999 slot range.
- Make sure that items are exposed to the API so that they appear in Rinsed.
- DRB: The DRB team will need to do this on your behalf. It may take up to 24 hours for newly exposed items to appear in Rinsed.
- Sonnys: Make sure that you have created an Ecommerce product for each of your gift card values.
Create your Rinsed gift card checkout form
- Navigate to Checkouts > Checkout Forms. Click Actions > New Checkout Form.
- Give the checkout form a name that clearly indicates it is gift card-specific. You should not sell any other item types on this checkout form.
- Under replication group, select your DRB or Sonnys replication group.
- Under Edit Products, click Select a product... , then choose the gift card item you would like to sell. Click Add product and repeat this process for all additional gift card items.
- In the Product Name field, add the customer-facing product name.
- This is what will appear in the confirmation email, so it should include any relevant discount/value information, such as "$100 Gift Card for $75"
- If you would like the gift recipient to receive an email containing the gift card code directly, click Show gift recipient email.
- When checked, this box will create a required Gift Recipient Email field on the checkout form, and two email confirmations will be sent: one to the purchaser, and one to the gift recipient.
- Click Enable terms of service, then Create Checkout Form.
Edit email templates
You will need to edit the purchaser confirmation email template, as well as the gift recipient email template (if using).
DRB: If you elected to sell physical gift cards, the sale code contained in the confirmation email can be scanned onsite in exchange for a physical gift card. If you chose digital gift cards, the sale code will act as a digital gift card.
Sonnys: The sale code in the confirmation email will act as the digital gift card. Physical gift cards are not supported.
If using digital gift cards, include instructions directing the customer to save this email so that they don't lose their gift card code.
- Click on the Email Templates tab of your checkout form.
- Open the Checkout Confirmation template to edit the purchaser confirmation. We recommend tailoring this confirmation message so that it includes language specific to gift card purchases. This is also where you can include instructions for the purchaser, such as "The gift recipient will receive a separate email containing the gift card code."
- Make sure that this email contains the Sale Code. Even if you are using a Gift Recipient email, we recommend including the Sale Code in both confirmation templates just in case the gift recipient does not receive their email.
- Click Update email template to save changes.
- Make sure that this email contains the Sale Code. Even if you are using a Gift Recipient email, we recommend including the Sale Code in both confirmation templates just in case the gift recipient does not receive their email.
- Open the Gift recipient email template and be sure to include the Sale Code. You will also want to add any instructions specific to your wash's process (such as "Scan this code onsite to receive your physical gift card," or "Here is your gift card code. Screenshot this email so you don't lose your gift card!")
- Click Update email template to save changes.
Test your form
We recommend running a test purchase and scanning the sale code to ensure everything runs smoothly before publicizing your form.
Post the checkout form online
Using the embed code in the Preview section of the checkout form editor, embed the form on your website. From there, it's ready to be marketed to customers!
